I have never been a girly girl and have always found dolls rather disturbing, but I did have a huge teddy bear collection and several pets – gerbils, guinea pigs dog etc and I quite like horses (have I mentioned that before?) - it seems old habits die hard because since I have started crafting I have become drawn towards what I can only describe as ‘art toys/dolls’ – one can only marvel at the skill involved in the making of these beautiful objects.
I was given this tiny patchwork tweed ‘Nelliphant’ by Caireen (he came pre-named Barry!) and I think it was one of the first Nelliphants that she made…….
He is quite good pals with the beautifully embroidered Matryoshka Doll by Ferragamo Studio (no longer in existence as far as I can tell)
I saw these tweed wool bunnies in Marjii’s shop on Etsy and fell in love with them…..
They are such simple shapes but the detail is incredible.
At the Green Gallery Xmas Fair there was a lady selling handmade felt scarves next to me, and she had been experimenting with needle felting. These two were some of her early attempts. She wasn’t really happy with them so she was selling them at a ridiculously low price so I snapped them up….
And they are now residing in the workroom. Just love those faces!
This sweet Poshyarns mouse in a pink linen dress is standing guard over the Selvedge magazine collection and casting a beady eye over my sewing station…
And this Wee Quilter bunny is warming herself by the fireplace.
It was with great excitement that I collected the latest of my purchases from the parcel office. You know it really is bad for the old Paypal balance to go looking at other peoples’ blogs and shops. You might be so smitten by what is on offer that you find yourself click click clicking all the money away!
When I saw this shop I knew that I would not be able to resist buying something – the hardest part was deciding what to buy but I am delighted with my choice ….
Bob a Wee Fox Terrier - he wants to join the circus –Sarah very kindly added the ruff at my request and I am so delighted with him! Isn’t he just the sweetest thing you have ever seen?
Finally…..this Wee Creature made by Woo…
I saw a picture of four creatures she had been working on, on her blog, and before I knew it had contacted her with a view to buying. Again the choice was incredibly hard but I absolutely love this. Just look at the detail in her face…
So beautiful. Everything about this is perfect and the clothes are just so sweet – I would love an outfit like that! She came beautifully packaged with her own serial number and wee tag saying ’I is a Creature’- really original, and a pleasure to receive. If you are lucky enough to live in the West Country, Woo will be selling her gorgeous wares at the Vintage & Handmade Fair – get yourself down there if you can and purchase your own little piece of loveliness!
