I know - it is a riveting title for a post! Been pretty busy this week and although alot of making has been going on I haven't had time (or the light) to get proper pics except for these couple.
It is very rare that I actually make something just for me - I am usually messing about with ideas for stuff to make and sell and anything that finds it's way to me is usually a prototype or a "2nd" in some way. This week as I was sorting through all my donated and thrifted wool items, getting them ready for felting to be made into various useful things, I came across a Gap scarf bought for a couple of pounds. It had lovely colours and was so itchy it would be impossible to wear so I decided that it would be perfect to turn into a draught excluder for my hall - the wind whistles under the door despite the fact that there is an internal stairwell outside! I have a stripy rug in the hall that the scarf would go with perfectly and so after felting it took just a few minutes to whip this up...........
and stuff it with plastic bags that had accumulated despite my best efforts in the cupboard under the sink.
The texture is lovely ....
I am chuffed to bits with the end result and it was so simple! And cheap!
I still have some of the scarf left to use in some of the patchwork felt things I am working on at the moment - pictures to follow soon light permitting. I am so sick of this dull weather - hurry up Spring - we need you!
Such a great idea, it looks really good!

You should have put your label at one of the ends then it would look like a snake!
I hope it keeps you nice and draught free!

Looks a whole lot better than the ones I made out of my old tweed trousers - you should definately put those in your shop! ness

Lovely colours for a scarf/draught excluder. Nice when you treat yourself to one of your own creations isn't it? Now what about some really posh excluders made with tweed for some of those lovely old flats/houses out there? x
