Right, that's it! This is officially not fun any more! What was supposed to be a great start to the year is quickly turning into my own private hell.
All sorts of things have been happening to the house: TV Aeriel blew off in high winds, all the lights fused when I was in the shower (at night), a giant hole has been dug literally outside the front door and just left!, the combi boiler is playing up and the toilet started leaking. Oh, and when I was painting the fireplace (after I had painted the walls and woodwork) I dislodged something and a whole load of c**p came gushing out the chimney. The great thing about chimney dust and soot is that it travels so far! Now the house is covered in a fine layer of dust. Worst of all is that the studio STILL isn't finished due to the fact that the floorboards are impregnated with something (pure evil I suspect) which keeps bleeding through the layers of paint and sealant that I have put on. Today will be the fifth coat of paint! As a result of this the house is a complete cowp and I CAN'T STAND IT ANY MORE!!! It doesn't help that I am PMT'd out of my mind and I am on a detox which means no chocolate, alcohol, wheat or sugar. I am still allowing myself coffee - giving that up might send me over the edge!
On a lighter note some good things have also been happening - it isn't all doom and gloom.
I went to see my accountant (boo!) but the tax bill wasn't as bad as I thought (hooray!), have been back to my gym (boo!) but only to meet friends for lunch (hooray!) I am intending to start going back regularly as I do usually enjoy it but other things have been taking priority lately but that will all change (once I have had my legs waxed!) My trip to the accountant took me to the West End of Glasgow - great charity shops. I snagged a few bargains in Cancer Research.....
.. some lovely pastel wools, charcoal cable knit, purple beret with cute brooch and best of all a Tait & Stylescarf! It has already been a bit felted (which I supect is why it ended up in a charity shop) but that's great for me - I will felt all this anyway. I love the felt balls on the scarf!
I also got this pile of goodies from my friend Lynn who was cleaning out an old costume store....
..more felting fodder!
I also had time to start my home-made cork board (what else is there to do when you are waiting for paint to dry?) I have been collecting corks for sometime now (I sound like a complete nerd!) with this specifically in mind...
Lots of corks!! I found an old Ikea frame in the cupboard and started glueing them on...
but unfortunately still do not have enough!
Will have to work on the cork shortage post-detox! It will look great when it is finished - I love all the wee graphics..
Must get back to the floor painting - fingers crossed this will be the last time. As we used to say when I worked at the Citizens Theatre " If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing.............several times!"
how funny I'm collecting corks too! great minds think alike...
don't you know anybody that work in a restaurant and could keep the corks for you? I don't but it would be great...
And what are you going to do with all that feltable goodness?

A Tait and Style scarf - what a scoop, I'd love one of those! Sorry to hear about all the house things - when you start spaceclearing.... it really happens! Get that sage out and start smudging fast! - very protective, so if stuff is going to happen it will ease all that. Ps you are probably also around the 5 week mark, which is my personal benchmark for "coming down" from a job. (adrenalin) the last few days have been pretty hellish for me too, so probably all round Cxx

Sory to hear you are so low but best get all the c**p out of the way at once. Cork collector here also, alas mostly plastic stoppers or screw tops now. Take it out on the felting you need plenty of energy for that. Pippa.

Phone that doctor re 'the knee' immediately then run yourself a hot afternoon bubble bath and soak with a good book and/or herbal tea. Sounds like you could also do with getting out of the flat for a few hours - go watch a film. Talk soon, nessx

Take a deep breath......or two.....phew, that feels better. The grotty bits will pass, and soon you'll have your new studio room finished, just as you want it. You're putting in lots of hard work, and will reap the rewards very soon. Dx

Yay! Found it.
By the way, I'm really enjoying reading through your blog. I love the photos and enjoy the way you write.(Hope you've conquered the pure evil seeping through the floor... I had this in my newly renovated kitchen. In the end I ignored the black spots and no one sees them anymore).
